Synchronous Pinpointing Principle

The instrument uses synchronous acoustic-magnetic positioning: an impact discharge generator creates flashover at the cable fault point, and the dedicated dual-channel probe simultaneously captures both acoustic and electromagnetic signals. Because the magnetic signal propagates near-instantaneously while sound travels considerably slower, the time difference between the two signals directly correlates to the distance from the fault point. The instrument's waveform display shows both signals in real time, with automatic time difference calculation (0-80ms range). By moving the sensor along the cable path and finding the point with the minimum time difference, the exact fault location is identified at 0.1m precision — far more reliable than traditional acoustic-only methods that rely solely on operator hearing.
