The XHDD503C Cable Fault Pinpointer employs advanced acoustic-magnetic time difference positioning technology to precisely locate underground cable faults. An impact discharge generator creates electronic flashover at the fault point, detected and amplified by a dedicated probe. The instrument captures acoustic-magnetic signal time differences — the core technology that sets it apart — and through audio-visual analysis within rough measurement ranges, pinpoints fault locations with exceptional precision. Integrated positioning and path testing with multiple operational modes deliver efficient, accurate fault detection for professional field operations.
Suitable for low-resistance, short-circuit, open-circuit and disconnection faults of power cables, high-frequency coaxial cables, street light cables, and buried wires of various materials, cross-sections and media, as well as high-resistance leakage and flashover faults.

The acoustic-magnetic time difference method is the core of this instrument's precision. When a high-voltage generator performs impact discharge on a faulty cable, two distinct signals are generated: an electromagnetic signal that propagates near-instantaneously through the cable, and an acoustic signal that travels much slower through the ground. The instrument's dual-channel sensor simultaneously detects both signals. By precisely measuring the time difference between them (0-100ms range at 1ms resolution), the distance to the fault point is calculated. As the operator moves the sensor along the cable path, the point with the smallest time difference indicates the exact fault location directly below — a method far more reliable than traditional acoustic-only detection.
