Chinese National Standard Compliant Cable Sheath Fault Locator for Urban Network Transformation
With the full deployment of urban network transformation projects, many power supply bureaus, construction teams, and design units are encountering 110kV XLPE cables for the first time. Due to time constraints and limited experience, many cables fail the withstand voltage test (10kV/1min).
Most outer sheaths use HDPE material, which passes factory DC 25kV/5min withstand voltage tests with leakage currents as low as tens of μA. Post-installation defects typically result from external damage during laying, including soil filling and cover issues. Operational defects may include termite damage, water ingress in grounding boxes, moisture penetration at grounding wire bifurcations, or insulation resistance reduction.
Our high-voltage cable outer sheath fault detector (output voltage ≤10kV) complies with Chinese national standard GB50150-2006 for cable sheath testing, including handover tests, preventive tests for cross-interconnect systems, and fault location. It quickly and accurately identifies grounding faults and leakage currents in 10kV-500kV single-core and three-core cables, while performing 5kV-10kV DC withstand voltage tests (1 minute) on HDPE and PVC sheaths.
