Product Description
XHZS506YS Cable Fault Piercing Device | Cable Fault Locator

XHZS506YS is a remote controlled cable fault piercing device (cable puncturer) built to confirm, with absolute certainty, whether a buried or already laid power cable is live before it is cut or relocated. It performs one controlled mechanical puncture on the cable so that any live cable short-circuits to ground or between phases and produces an unmistakable arc, while a de-energized cable shows no reaction. This eliminates the human risk of sawing the wrong live cable on site.

Designed For: Power distribution cable construction and relocation crews, cable fault repair teams, and electrical safety officers who must positively identify live cables before cutting, moving or repairing buried wiring, so that a mistaken cut on a live cable can never endanger the people on site.

Core Features
Dual gun bodies puncture the cable and form a real short-circuit point for a reliable identity check.
When the two gun bodies are set at a non-120° angle, at least one gun completes the puncture and creates the short circuit.
Wired and wireless remote control with a control distance of more than 10m, so the operator can stay behind a wall.
AC and DC dual use with a built-in lithium battery pack and large-capacity energy storage, giving over 10 hours of continuous work.
Human voice prompt synchronized with the LCD display for simple, guided operation.
Small size and light weight, making the device very suitable for field use.
How Live Cable Confirmation Works
Step 1 – Clamp and Ground

The gun body is clamped onto the cable to be identified and the neighboring cables are isolated, then the ground stake and ground wire ensure the gun body is reliably earthed before any operation.

Step 2 – Load and Cock

A nail is loaded into the barrel and a cartridge into the chamber, the gun body is reassembled, and the trigger is cocked so the device is ready to fire under remote control.

Step 3 – Remote Puncture

From a safe distance of more than 10m the operator fires the gun with the wired or wireless remote. A single gun creates one short-circuit point, while a dual gun set creates two points at a non-120° angle so that at least one gun always achieves a real short circuit.

Step 4 – Read the Result

If the cable is live, an arc explosion occurs at the instant of puncture; if nothing happens, the cable is de-energized and safe to cut. Manual remote and automatic timed (10s) puncture modes are both supported, with a voice prompt and LCD display guiding each step.

FAQ
Q1: Who is the XHZS506YS cable fault piercing device designed for?
It is designed for power distribution cable construction and relocation crews, cable fault repair teams, and electrical safety officers who must confirm whether a buried or already laid cable is live before cutting or moving it, so that a wrong cut on a live cable can never harm anyone on site.
Q2: How does the device confirm whether a cable is live?
After the gun body is clamped onto the cable and reliably grounded, the controller remote-fires a nail that punctures the cable and short-circuits it to ground or between phases. If the cable is live, an arc explosion occurs at the instant of puncture; if there is no reaction, the cable is de-energized and safe to work on.
Q3: What are the key remote control and safety features?
It supports both wired and wireless remote control with a range of over 10m and can be operated through a wall. Manual and automatic (timed) puncture modes are provided, operation is guided by a synchronized voice prompt and LCD display, and the gun body must be reliably grounded before firing.
Q4: What is included in the dual gun set and what are the main specifications?
The dual gun set weighs 15.5kg (470×380×210mm) with two gun bodies, a 2.5kg controller (270×230×120mm), a remote controller, connection cables, ground stake, ground wires, cartridges and nails. The clamp caliber is φ30–150mm and the control cable is 5m.
Q5: How is the device powered and maintained?
It charges from AC 220V / 50Hz through a built-in lithium battery that supports more than 10 hours of continuous work. Wipe the gun body clean after each use and clean it with the supplied cleaning tool after about every 5 shots to keep it in good working order.

To keep the piercing device in good working order, wipe the gun body clean after each use and clean it with the supplied cleaning tool after about every 5 shots.

I’ve been running the XHZS506YS out in Phoenix, AZ. One of our guys nearly got burned bad because he didn’t verify if the buried cable was energized. This thing’s live‑voltage alert saved us from a serious safety incident. Fault pinpointing is quick, holds up great in the brutal desert heat. Keeps our crew protected and slashes troubleshooting time. Absolute must‑have tool for every field tech on our team.
