Product Description

Complete Turnkey System — Ready to Deploy. The XHGG502A ships with everything required for professional cable fault pre-location: 10.1-inch touch embedded host, DC 35kV pulse coupler, sampler, Q-line test leads, high-voltage connection cables, ground wire, USB communication cable, power adapter, and rugged transport cases. One order. One shipment. Start testing.

The XHGG502A is a professional ARC cable fault pre-locator built around an industrial 10.1-inch touch all-in-one computer with embedded system architecture. It integrates modern electronic and computer technologies to perform signal filtering, high-speed A/D acquisition, data processing, graphic display, and waveform analysis — completing cable wave velocity, length, and fault distance measurement in a single workflow. The instrument covers the full spectrum of cable fault types: low-resistance short circuits, open circuits, disconnections, leakage high-resistance, and flashover high-resistance faults on power cables, high-frequency coaxial cables, street light cables, and buried wires of all materials, cross-sections, and dielectric media. All technical indicators comply with GB/T 18268.1, DL/T 849.1-2019, and JJF1042-2020.

What distinguishes the XHGG502A from conventional pre-locators is its proprietary eight-pulse ARC multi-pulse method. When connected to the included DC 35kV pulse coupler, the instrument fires 8 sequential pulses at the cable fault point, simultaneously displaying 8 groups of high-voltage and low-voltage comparison waveforms on the 10.1-inch screen. The system mathematically converts any high-resistance fault trace into a clean low-resistance short-circuit equivalent waveform — making interpretation virtually unambiguous and enabling automatic distance calculation that requires no expert waveform analysis skills. This technology, combined with three test modes (TDR low-voltage pulse, ICE impulse current, and ARM arc reflection multi-pulse), delivers the highest fault detection success rate and test precision available in its class.

Key Capabilities
  • 10.1-inch High-Brightness TFT Touch Display: 1024*600 resolution, 280nit ultra-bright LED backlight. Waveforms remain sharp and readable under direct sunlight. Touch + coded push-button dual operation — touch for software navigation, physical buttons for gloved-hand control in wet conditions.
  • 400MHz Sampling, 0.07m Resolution, 120km Range: Variable 1MHz~400MHz A/D conversion with industry-leading 0.07m minimum resolution — over 7* finer than conventional 100MHz instruments. 10 selectable range presets from 100m to 100km, plus ≥120km maximum capability.
  • Eight-Pulse ARC Multi-Pulse with Included DC 35kV Coupler: 8 sequential pulses generate comparison waveform sets that convert complex high-resistance faults into simple short-circuit equivalents. Automatic distance calculation with manual analysis override. No extra coupler purchase required.
  • Three Integrated Test Methods: TDR (low-voltage pulse: 300V±15%, 8 widths from 0.1μs to 10μs), ICE (impulse current flashover), and ARM (arc reflection 8-pulse multi-pulse). One instrument covers every cable fault scenario.
  • Fully Automatic Operation: Automatic continuous sampling — never misses a transient discharge waveform. Automatic range setting selects the optimal test preset. Automatic waveform analysis identifies the fault reflection and displays the distance — no manual cursor placement required.
  • 8,000+ Waveform Storage with USB Export: Save and name waveforms by job site, cable ID, or date. Recall and compare historical traces against current faults. USB export to PC software for formal report generation, archival management, and advanced comparative analysis.
  • Embedded System — Rock-Solid Stability: Purpose-built embedded architecture — no Windows overhead, no software licensing, no unnecessary processes. Full English menu. Fast boot, low power consumption, crash-resistant operation.
  • IP54 Protective Chassis: Dust-protected and splash-proof. Functions reliably from -20℃ sub-zero substation maintenance to +65℃ desert cable trench diagnostics.
  • Built-in 11.1V Lithium Battery: Approximately 2-hour fast charge delivers over 5 hours of continuous field operation. Dual AC/DC — plug into AC 110V~240V mains or operate entirely on battery.

FAQ

Q: Does the coupler come with the instrument?
A: Yes. The DC 35kV pulse coupler (430*380*220mm, 10kg) is included as standard in every XHGG502A shipment, along with coupler high-voltage connection cables A and B.

Q: Can it test XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) cables?
A: Yes. The XHGG502A is suitable for all cable insulation types — XLPE, oil-impregnated paper, rubber, and PVC — across low-voltage (6kV and below), medium/high-voltage (6kV~35kV), and high-voltage (66kV+) power cables.

Q: Does the instrument work without mains power?
A: Yes. The built-in 11.1V lithium battery supports low-voltage pulse testing for open-circuit and low-resistance faults without external power. For high-voltage flashover and multi-pulse methods, connect to AC 110V~240V or a generator.

Q: Can waveforms be exported to a computer?
A: Yes. All 8,000+ stored waveforms can be exported via USB to PC software for archival management, comparative analysis, and formal report generation.

Q: Is training included?
A: Each shipment includes a comprehensive user manual. Contact us for on-site training, remote video support, or extended warranty options tailored to your team's requirements.

The XHGG502 tester works flawlessly for indoor building wiring jobs. It quickly located hidden cable faults inside Warsaw’s Złota 44 high-rise. Compact, precise amid tangled inter-floor wires and saves us tons of repair time.

Absolute workhorse for our utility crew,I’ve used this cable fault tester on underground power lines across Ohio suburbs for four months straight. Last Tuesday, we located a water-soaked cable short under a residential driveway in Columbus; it pinpointed the fault within 3 feet. It blocks signal interference perfectly amid dense parallel power lines in neighborhood subdivisions. The heavy-duty shell survives bouncing around our work trucks, and the battery stays charged through full field shifts. It slashes our digging hours and never fails on emergency service calls.

We purchased the XHGG502A for our company's cable fault detection work, and we are extremely satisfied with its overall performance! The equipment is stable and reliable, and the measurement data is accurate. Compared to similar products we used before, it has stronger resistance to moisture and dust, making it suitable for various harsh working environments. Furthermore, its compact size makes it easy to store and transport. The technical team at Xuzhihui Electromechanical also provides regular follow-up visits and maintenance advice, which gives us great confidence in the product and service!
