Low Leakage Current Cable Sheath Fault Locator for 25kV/5min Withstand Voltage Test
With the full deployment of urban network transformation, many power supply bureaus, construction teams, and design units are encountering 110kV XLPE cables for the first time. Due to time constraints and limited experience, many cables fail the withstand voltage test (10kV/1min). Most outer sheaths use HDPE material, which passes the factory DC 25kV/5min withstand voltage test with leakage current as low as tens of μA. Post-installation defects typically result from external damage during laying, soil conditions, or cover issues. Operational defects may include termite damage, water ingress in grounding boxes, moisture penetration at bifurcation points, or insulation resistance reduction. Some defects are particularly challenging to locate when cables are deeply buried or in complex environments, potentially creating long-term operational hazards.
Our high-voltage cable outer sheath fault detector with output voltage up to 10kV complies with Chinese national standard GB50150-2006 for cable sheath testing. It's suitable for handover tests, preventive maintenance, and fault location in cross-interconnect systems, enabling rapid detection of 10kV-500kV single-core and three-core cable sheath faults and leakage currents. The instrument also performs 5kV-10kV DC withstand voltage tests (1 minute) on HDPE and PVC cable sheaths, making it essential for maintenance teams at ultra-high voltage cable operators, engineering firms, and power transmission organizations.
