Product Description

XHBX1502

When a transformer’s design and build are complete, its coils and internal setup are set for good. For a multi-winding transformer, coils with the same voltage class and winding technique will have fixed Ci and Li parameters—meaning each coil’s frequency-domain response is also fixed, and the frequency patterns of the three-phase coils can be compared.
Things like short circuits (between turns or phases) during testing, bumps in transit that move coils around, or coil warping from electromagnetic pull during short-circuit/fault runs will change the “distributed parameters” of the transformer’s windings. This messes with the transformer’s original frequency-based traits: think changes in how strong the frequency response is, or shifts in the key resonance frequencies. The Transformer Winding Tester—made with response analysis tech—is a new kind of non-destructive tool to check for internal transformer faults, and it works for 63kV up to 500kV power transformers.
This tester measures and quantifies how the transformer’s internal winding parameters react across different frequency ranges. It figures out how much the windings have changed by looking at how big those parameter shifts are, where and how much the frequency responses change, and the direction of those changes. From there, you can use the results to tell if the transformer’s badly damaged and needs a major fix.
