Product Overview
When a transformer is designed and built, its coils and internal layout are set in stone. For multi-winding transformers, coils that match in voltage class and winding method will have set Ci and Li parameters—so their frequency-domain responses are fixed, and the three-phase coil frequency patterns can be compared directly.
Problems like short circuits (during testing), shipping damage (coil movement), or coil warping from electromagnetic stress (during faults) will change the winding’s distributed parameters. This messes with the transformer’s original frequency traits: think shifts in response amplitude or resonance frequencies. Our Transformer Winding Tester uses response analysis to detect these issues non-destructively—it’s perfect for checking internal faults in 63kV to 500kV power transformers.
The tester measures how winding parameters respond across different frequencies, then translates that data into insights on deformation severity: it looks at how big the changes are, where/when frequency responses shift, and overall trends. With this info, you can tell if a transformer is badly damaged and needs a full overhaul.
Even if you don’t have old frequency data for a working transformer, you can still assess faults by comparing faulty coil spectra. Having original winding data, though, makes it way easier to track performance, analyze accidents, and plan maintenance.
This tester pairs a laptop with a single-chip microcomputer for super accurate measurements. It’s small, simple to use (follow the manual or take a quick training), and has all the test/analysis tools you need—no tech expert required.

Performance Characteristics
- High-speed dual-channel 16-bit A/D sampling (waveform curves show clear changes during on-site testing when the tap switch is changed).
- Signal output amplitude is software-adjustable, with a maximum peak amplitude of ±10V.
- The computer automatically analyzes the test results and generates electronic documents (Word).
- The instrument features a dual measurement system with both linear sweep frequency measurement and segmented sweep frequency measurement capabilities, compatible with the two current technical approaches used in China.
- The amplitude-frequency characteristics meet the national technical specifications for amplitude-frequency characteristic testers. The horizontal axis (frequency) has both linear and logarithmic scales, so the printed curve can be either a linear or logarithmic scale curve, which the user can select according to their needs.
