How It Works

The XHSC-60Q operates on the burn-through principle: a controlled high-voltage DC output is applied to the faulty cable, gradually heating and carbonizing the fault point. This process reduces the fault resistance from potentially hundreds of kilo-ohms down to a few ohms or less. Once the fault is converted to a low-resistance state, standard TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) or impulse current methods can be used to precisely measure the distance to the fault — dramatically improving pre-location accuracy and reducing excavation time.
