Cable Stabbing Device | Voice Broadcast | XHZS506YS
Mistakenly sawing a live power cable is one of the most serious accidents in the electric power industry, often resulting in casualties. The XHZS506YS cable stabbing device is designed to completely eliminate this risk. Before any cable is cut, the device remotely stabs the cable once with a nail. If the cable is live, a clear flash and bang occurs at the moment of stabbing; if there is no reaction, the cable is confirmed unlive and safe to cut.
The device adopts a remote-controlled automatic stabbing mechanism, so operators never need to approach the cable during the puncture. With real-person voice broadcast synchronized with the LCD display, the operation status is always clear. It is a must-have safety tool for every team that cuts, relocates or repairs power cables.
Applications & Target Audience: Engineered for distributed PV and energy storage project installation contractors, data center power supply and distribution construction units, telecommunication infrastructure construction companies, building electrical installation contractors, metro and urban rail transit power supply system construction and maintenance teams, and professional high-voltage cable joint and accessory installation crews.

Small size, light weight and low-speed piston structure, easy to install at any angle in the field

Two Methods to Confirm Cable Identity
Before cutting a cable, its identity must be confirmed, especially whether it is live. There are two common confirmation methods, but only one is absolutely reliable.
| Method |
Principle |
Reliability |
| Original design and construction records |
Check the cable identity from drawings and installation records |
Not absolutely reliable: records can be incomplete, changed during construction, or lost over years of service |
| Cable live / unlive identification instrument |
Detect the electric field or induced voltage near the cable |
Good indication, but interference from adjacent live cables can cause misjudgment in dense cable groups |
| Mechanical stabbing (XHZS506YS) |
Puncture the cable to create a phase-to-ground or phase-to-phase short circuit; a live cable definitely flashes and bangs |
Absolutely reliable: directly verifies the cable condition by physical short circuit |
The XHZS506YS automates the mechanical stabbing method with remote control and voice broadcast, so the most reliable verification is also the safest to perform. It is the only method that absolutely confirms whether a cable is live, and it is the recommended final check before every cable cutting operation.
Working Principle
The cable stabbing device consists of a shooter and a controller. The shooter is a low-speed piston type special device designed for stabbing cables, with a reasonable and light structure that can be installed at any angle. The controller uses advanced electronic detection circuits and remotely fires a nail into the cable to cause a short circuit. If the cable is live, it will definitely discharge with a bang; if it is not live, the cable is confirmed de-energized.
Because three-phase cables are usually arranged in a triangle shape, a single gun stabbing exactly into the gap between two phases may not penetrate the whole cable and fails to create a real short circuit. The double gun configuration solves this: when the angle between the two guns is not 120 degrees, at least one gun body achieves the stabbing purpose and forms a short-circuit point, guaranteeing the verification result.

Operation Guide
Load the bullet into the gun barrel, mount the gun body on the cable to be tested, and point the gun barrel at a shielding object to prevent the nail from injuring other cables or personnel
Connect the gun stock and gun barrel, connect and lock the controller to the gun body, and connect the ground wire reliably
Turn on the controller power, select the timing mode with the "select" button and confirm with the "confirm" button; the controller stabs gun 1 and gun 2 after 10 seconds
Stay away from the gun bodies and controller, observe the stabbing result from the remote position, and confirm the cable is unlive before cutting

Nail & Bullet Selection
Select the nail specification according to the cable diameter, and the bullet power according to the cable voltage level, so that the stabbing effect is reliable and safe.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Wipe the gun bodies clean after each use and clean them with the supplied tools every 5 shots to keep the device in good condition
Charge the built-in lithium battery every 2 months when the device is not used for a long time to prevent self-discharge damage
If the gun bolt cannot be cocked: the spring and pin may be oxidized or rusty; oil the firing electromagnet spring and pin, then repeat cocking and firing to lubricate
If remote firing produces no action: check the connection cable, measure the controller DC 24V pulse output, check the bolt, and measure the gun body interface resistance
If the bullet is not ignited: the powder may be affected by moisture; replace with new bullets
Safety Precautions
Strictly forbid empty-bullet tests without nails: gun needle fracture and injury risk
Strictly forbid empty tests without bullets: firing pin fracture risk
Strictly forbid stabbing into the air with real bullets and nails: injury risk
The gun bodies must be reliably grounded during cable stabbing
The angle between the two gun bodies must not be 120 degrees
This device is a dedicated cable stabbing instrument; strictly forbid other uses

FAQ
Q1: What is the XHZS506YS cable stabbing device used for?
It is a safety tool used before cutting, relocating or repairing power cables. It remotely stabs the cable to verify whether it is live: a live cable flashes and bangs at the moment of stabbing, while an unlive cable shows no reaction, confirming it is safe to cut.
Q2: Why is mechanical stabbing the most reliable way to confirm a cable is unlive?
Because it directly creates a phase-to-ground or phase-to-phase short circuit. If the cable is live, the short circuit inevitably produces a flash and bang. Unlike design records or identification instruments, this physical verification cannot be fooled by incomplete records or electromagnetic interference.
Q3: Why does the device use two gun bodies?
Three-phase cables are usually arranged in a triangle shape. A single gun may stab into the gap between phases and fail to create a real short circuit. With double guns angled not at 120 degrees, at least one gun body can achieve the stabbing purpose and form a short-circuit point, guaranteeing the verification.
Q4: How far can the operator stay from the cable during operation?
The wireless remote control works at distances greater than 10 meters and can penetrate walls, so operators can stay in a safe position, for example behind a wall or around a corner, while the device performs the stabbing. The control cable is 5 meters long for wired operation.
Q5: Who is this device designed for?
It is designed for distributed PV and energy storage installation contractors, data center power construction units, telecommunication infrastructure construction companies, building electrical installation contractors, metro power supply construction and maintenance teams, and high-voltage cable joint installation crews.
