The XHMR-10KVB digital insulation resistance tester, also known as a megohmmeter or high-voltage insulation resistance tester, is designed for insulation resistance testing of transformers, motors, cables and electrical equipment. It offers six rated voltage levels, 250V, 500V, 1000V, 2500V, 5000V and 10kV, with a wide resistance measurement range from 0.01MΩ to 35TΩ, making it one of the most versatile insulation testers available for field and workshop use.
The instrument features a large LCD screen with gray backlight, data storage, data review, alarm and automatic shutdown functions. It also measures DC voltage, AC voltage, absorption ratio (DAR) and polarization index (PI). With its wide range, high resolution, convenient operation and easy portability, the XHMR-10KVB delivers accurate, reliable and stable performance with strong anti-interference capability. Its shockproof, dust-proof and moisture-proof structure makes it a commonly used and indispensable instrument for telecommunications, electric power, meteorology, computer rooms, oil fields, electromechanical installation and maintenance, and industrial enterprises that use electricity as industrial power or energy.

Choosing the right test voltage is essential for accurate insulation assessment. The XHMR-10KVB covers the full range of commonly used test voltages in one portable instrument.
| Test Voltage | Typical Test Object |
|---|---|
| 250V | Low-voltage control circuits, signal cables, communication equipment insulation |
| 500V | Motors and appliances rated below 500V, general industrial equipment |
| 1000V | Low-voltage distribution cables, switchgear and busbars |
| 2500V | Medium-voltage motors, transformers and distribution cables |
| 5000V | High-voltage motors, power transformers and HV cable insulation |
| 10kV | High-voltage cables, transformers and substation equipment insulation testing |
Insulation resistance alone is not always sufficient to judge insulation condition, especially for large equipment with significant capacitance. The absorption ratio (DAR) and polarization index (PI) compare insulation readings taken at different times during the test to reveal moisture and contamination inside the insulation.
The instrument provides LINE, V, GUARD, EARTH, charger and USB interfaces. The high-voltage test terminal banana plug connects to the LINE interface, the shielded cable connector plugs into the GUARD interface when required, and the EARTH interface connects to the protective ground. The voltage select button cycles through the six test voltage levels, the test button starts the measurement, and the power button controls the instrument.

Telecom base stations, switching rooms and meteorological observation stations rely on continuous power supply. Routine insulation testing of power cables, lightning protection systems and backup generators with the XHMR-10KVB helps prevent unexpected outages and service disruption.
In explosive and corrosive environments, insulation degradation can lead to dangerous faults. The instrument's shockproof, dust-proof and moisture-proof structure and strong anti-interference capability make it suitable for the demanding conditions of oil field and petrochemical electrical maintenance.
Repair and rewinding workshops test insulation before and after rewinding to verify work quality. The 250V to 10kV voltage range covers small motors, large industrial motors and distribution transformers, while the 500-group storage records test history for each repaired unit.
Elevator and crane maintenance companies perform periodic insulation checks on motors, controllers and trailing cables. The portable 2.75kg design and rechargeable battery allow quick tests at customer sites without external power.
