Product Description
Product Overview

The XHDD503, XHGG502 and XHHV535-2L portable cable fault locating system is a complete three-unit field solution for locating faults on buried power cables rated 35kV and below. The XHGG502 TDR pre-locator with 400MHz sampling and 68km ranging capacity measures the approximate fault distance, the XHHV535-2L surge generator with up to 1225J discharge energy injects high-energy impulses to break down the fault point, and the XHDD503 acoustic-magnetic pinpointer precisely identifies the fault position to within 0.2m. Together they cover the entire workflow from fault ranging to precise pinpointing, shortening outage time and minimizing excavation area for repair crews.

Applications & Target Audience: Engineered for power design institutes and engineering consulting firms, smart grid and distribution automation O&M teams, shipbuilding and marine engineering electrical departments, nuclear power plant electrical maintenance teams and large manufacturing group facility power departments that locate low-resistance, open-circuit, disconnection, high-resistance leakage and flashover faults on buried power cables rated 35kV and below.
System Components

1. XHGG502 — TDR Cable Fault Pre-Locator (with 35kV Pulse Coupler)

Fault Distance Ranging
Industrial-grade 12.1-inch touchscreen all-in-one computer adopting the world's most advanced multi-pulse (eight pulse) method together with high-voltage flashover and low-voltage pulse methods. Any high-resistance fault presents the simplest waveform characteristics similar to a low-voltage pulse short-circuit fault, making waveform interpretation extremely easy. The included pulse coupler withstands DC 35kV, extending reliable testing to medium-voltage cables.
Sampling Frequency: 400MHz
Ranging Range: ≥68km, minimum resolution 0.1m
Pulse Coupler: DC 35kV withstand voltage
Test Methods: LV pulse, HV flashover, multi-pulse method

2. XHHV535-2L — 35kV High Voltage Surge Generator

Impulse Energy Injection
Portable high-voltage surge generator integrating a DC high-voltage source, energy storage capacitor and discharge ball gap. It delivers 0-35kV impulse voltage with up to 1225J discharge energy to break down and flash over cable fault points, enabling acoustic and magnetic synchronized fault point determination. The ultra-light design under 25kg completely replaces traditional test transformers and operation boxes weighing hundreds of kilograms.
Impulse Voltage: 0-35kV (default 0-32kV)
Discharge Energy: 0-1225J (default 0-1024J)
Built-in Capacitor: 2μF
Weight: No more than 25kg

3. XHDD503 — Acoustic-Magnetic Synchronous Pinpointer

Precise Fault Point Location
High-sensitivity acoustic-magnetic synchronous receiver with 500,000 times amplification, independently designed sound and magnetic channels with separate power supplies for stronger anti-interference capability. Analog meter clearly indicates signal strength and trend, with adjustable zero level suitable for various strong and weak signal sites. The probe features IP65 waterproof protection with multi-layer physical isolation sensors, and the 5-inch touch display supports both pinpointing and cable path identification modes.
Pinpointing Accuracy: Less than 0.2m
Path Identification Accuracy: Less than 0.5m
Magnification: 500,000 times
Standby Time: More than 8 hours

Complete Fault Location Workflow
Fault Nature JudgmentUse an insulation resistance meter or multimeter to confirm the fault type, classifying it as low-resistance, open-circuit, high-resistance leakage or flashover fault.
Fault Pre-Location (XHGG502)Connect the pre-locator and apply low-voltage pulse, high-voltage flashover or multi-pulse method to measure the approximate fault distance with 400MHz sampling and up to 68km range.
Cable Route TracingUse the XHDD503 path identification mode to trace the exact cable route and mark the path on the ground surface.
Surge Impulse Injection (XHHV535-2L)Apply high-energy 0-35kV surge impulses with up to 1225J discharge energy to break down the fault point and generate detectable acoustic and electromagnetic signals.
Precise Pinpointing (XHDD503)Walk the cable route with the pinpointer in the rough measurement range; the point where the earphone sound is loudest and the meter swings strongest in synchronization with the sound is the fault point.
Cable Repair and VerificationExcavate precisely at the marked point, repair the cable and verify restoration with a final insulation test.
Applications Across Industries
