Transformer Demagnetizer| XHXC105
The XHXC105 transformer demagnetizer is a dedicated device for eliminating residual magnetism hazards after DC resistance testing of large power transformers and instrument transformers. Due to the inherent hysteresis of ferromagnetic materials, residual magnetism remains in the iron core after voltage ratio and DC resistance measurements. When the transformer is energized, this residual magnetism causes half-cycle saturation of the core, generating a large number of harmonics in the exciting current. This not only increases reactive power consumption but may also cause false operation of relay protection devices and result in economic losses. The XHXC105 removes residual magnetism safely and efficiently before transformer energization, protecting the transformer from magnetizing inrush current impact and ensuring safe commissioning and operation.
Applications & Target Audience: Engineered for transformer manufacturers performing pre-delivery demagnetization and factory acceptance, power plant and utility preventive test teams preparing transformers for safe energization, new substation commissioning and acceptance teams, high-voltage test institutes and DC resistance testing service providers, and instrument transformer manufacturers and maintenance workshops that must eliminate residual magnetism before energization.

FAQ
Q1: Who is this transformer demagnetizer designed for?
It is designed for transformer manufacturers performing pre-delivery demagnetization and factory acceptance, power plant and utility preventive test teams preparing transformers for safe energization, new substation commissioning and acceptance teams, high-voltage test institutes and DC resistance testing service providers, and instrument transformer manufacturers and maintenance workshops that must eliminate residual magnetism before energization.
Q2: Why is demagnetization necessary before transformer energization?
Residual magnetism in the transformer core causes half-cycle saturation when the transformer is energized, producing large inrush current and harmonics. This can cause relay protection misoperation, frequent energization failure, sympathetic inrush tripping of neighboring transformers, large-area power outages, damage to transformers and circuit breakers from excessive electrodynamic force, reduced CT measurement accuracy, power quality pollution and voltage fluctuations. Demagnetization before energization eliminates these risks and ensures safe transformer operation.
Q3: How does the XHXC105 remove residual magnetism?
The XHXC105 adopts the DC frequency conversion attenuation principle. It uses the DC demagnetization method with periodically decreasing current amplitude and periodically changing current polarity. By gradually shrinking the hysteresis loop and canceling magnetic poles against each other, the residual magnetism is eliminated. In automatic mode, the instrument performs demagnetization in the sequence of 5A, 1A, 200mA and 5mA until the progress reaches 100 percent, then discharges automatically.
Q4: What are the key specifications and performance?
The degaussing current has four gears of 5A, 1A, 200mA and 5mA which are customizable. The manual mode takes about 3 minutes per time and the automatic mode about 9 minutes per time, with a degaussing effect of more than 90 percent per time. The instrument works with AC220V plus or minus 10 percent power supply at 50Hz plus or minus 1Hz, operates at -25 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius with humidity no more than 90 percent, and weighs only 5kg excluding test leads.
Q5: Is the XHXC105 convenient for field use?
Yes. The instrument features a two-key operation design: the red key for selection and reset, and the green key for confirmation and start. It has a clear Chinese interface with real-time display of degaussing mode, current value and progress, and can directly use the current leads of a DC resistance tester. Its small size and light weight of 5kg make it very suitable for on-site use at substations, power plants and manufacturing sites.
